Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The athlete was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Healing from Light Wounds
Joshua had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, representatives had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
Honoring the Deceased
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two close friends.”
